True Fit’s size recommendations are calculated through a multi-step process that leverages data and machine learning. Here’s an overview of the steps involved:
Catalog Information Loading: We load detailed product information into our system, via the Shopify Product API, including product identifiers, selling sizes, locales, prices, etc.
Size Normalization: The selling size strings and fit information are converted into True Fit’s internal normalized size system to ensure consistency across brands and retailers.
Genome Comparison: We determine whether the brand or product is sold at other retailers within True Fit’s Genome. If so, sales data from all retailers is used as input to our machine learning models.
Machine Learning Adjustments: True Fit applies machine learning models powered by sales and user size data to fine-tune adjustments to the normalized sizes, enhancing the accuracy of fit representation.
Recommendation Generation: Once the adjustments are made, True Fit generates size recommendations and offers universal fit guidance based on the learned data.
Continuous Refinement: As additional sales data is collected, True Fit continually updates and refines the product fit estimates to improve the accuracy of recommendations.
How often are True Fit’s size recommendations updated?
True Fit’s size recommendations are continuously updated and refined as new sales data is collected. This ongoing process ensures that the fit estimates remain accurate and relevant, reflecting any changes in product sizing or fit over time.
Do you need my size charts to generate recommendations?
No, size charts are not required. True Fit automatically accesses all the catalog details required to understand each product through Shopify’s Product API. This includes size information, which is pulled directly from your catalog.
How does True Fit generate accurate size recommendations without my size charts?
In addition to pulling in catalog details via the Shopify Product API, True Fit layers in sales and returns data from across our network and factors in individual shopper preferences. This combination allows us to generate highly accurate size recommendations without needing separate size charts.
How soon do True Fit’s machine-learning models start working after going live?
Our machine-learning models start generating recommendations as soon as your site goes live with True Fit. Over time, these algorithms become increasingly accurate as they process more data.
How does True Fit determine which brands are suggested in the shopper registration?
The list of suggested brands is dynamic and driven by machine learning. It automatically updates over time to reflect common selections within your shopper base. We typically observe a mix of popular brands within similar markets, departments, categories, and age groups.
INSTALLATION OR INTEGRATION
How do I place the widget on my PDP template?
You can follow the steps in this instructional video here.
How long does it take for the True Fit widget to appear on my site after implementation?
After the True Fit block/script has been successfully placed on your site, the widget should start rendering within the next few hours. Initially, you may see limited coverage, but this will increase up to 95% within the next 24-48 hours as we pull in your catalog information via the Shopify Product API.
I have installed the App and placed the widget onto my Product Template. It has been 48 hours, and the widget is not showing. Is there an issue?
Before reaching out to support@truefit.com for further guidance on this. Please verify if: the product you are viewing is manufactured and sold in 2 or more sizes, the product you are viewing is an apparel or shoe product. If the answer to these questions are yes, please contact support and we will investigate why the widget is not yet showing. We’re here to help you troubleshoot any issues.
Where do I find my Client ID?
If you are using Shopify 2.0 and require the client ID for your integration, please reach out to support@truefit.com for assistance. If you are using Shopify 1.0 and require the client ID for your integration, this can be found by navigating to the True Fit App, and selecting True Fit Placement.
I use Shopify 1.0 and do not have the drag and drop feature. How do I place the Widget?
You can manually place the True Fit widget directly into your theme liquid file. Please follow the integration instructions to do this here.
WIDGET CUSTOMISATIONS
Can True Fit make initial adjustments to how specific styles fit?
Yes, True Fit can make initial adjustments to specific styles based on your input. As we continue to learn more about your brand and products, our algorithm will automatically update the recommendations over time, eliminating the need for ongoing manual adjustments.
What information do I need to provide for initial style adjustments?
For initial adjustments, please provide a list of the products you are aware of, including their style IDs (alternatively, product name or URLs) and how each style fits (e.g., runs small, runs slightly small, runs big, runs slightly big). Once we receive this information, we will update our system accordingly.
Will I need to keep sending product fit information regularly?
No, you won’t need to provide this information on an ongoing basis. Our algorithm will automatically update the fit recommendations as it learns more about your brand and products over time.
Can I make changes to the shopper registration process?
Unfortunately, we cannot make changes to the UX within the modal registration. The questions included in the registration process are integral to our recommendation service. We have conducted extensive user testing to ensure that these questions drive the most accurate recommendations and achieve the highest completion rate.
Why are the registration questions standardized?
The registration questions are standardized to ensure consistency and accuracy across all users. By maintaining a uniform experience, we can provide the most reliable recommendations based on the core data we gather. Standardizing the process also allows us to deliver the best possible completion rates and user experience.
Can I customize the list of suggested brands?
We recommend allowing our system to learn and adjust based on the actual user inputs. However, we do have the capability to hardcode certain values if needed. This type of customization is not available for all subscribers. Please connect with support@truefit.com to verify eligibility, or upgrade your subscription package, and support the adjustments.
Can I customize the True Fit Widget?
Yes! You can make adjustments to the True Fit widget by opting into the ‘Configure True Fit’ add-on directly in the App. The configuration add on allows retailers to adjust:
The Widget Theme
The Font
Colors (Text, Background, Button Border, etc)
True Fit Logo (Color)

How can I access the dashboards?
Once the True Fit widget is live on your site and orders start arriving into our database, access to the Connect Dashboards will be generated automatically for the email address provided at installation. You will receive an email from True Fit Ops prompting you to log in and generate a password. The link to access Connect can be found here.
I am having trouble accessing the Connect Dashboards?
The login for the connect dashboards can be quite sensitive. Please be sure you are using the correct email and password casing. Please also be sure you are using this URL to access the dashboards.
The True Fit Widget was live on my site, and has now disappeared. Is there an issue?
It's possible that you may have been caught in our hold-out group. True Fit runs a 5% hold-out A/B test across all retailers as a means of baselining performance and informing our product and optimization roadmap. This means that 95% of your shoppers will always see the True Fit widget and 5% will not. You should be able to see the widget render again once you clear your browsing history or if you try in a new, private window. If you are still having issues with the widget rendering, please email support@truefit.com, with direct links to products that are not showing the widget.
I added new product styles to my website and the widget is not showing. Is there something additional I need to do?
There might be a slight lag between items being added to the site and showing recommendations at times. Your catalog data first needs to be pulled in via Shopify's Product API. In certain instances we might need manual attribution to fix issues such as incorrect hierarchies or review & map unique selling sizes. In other scenarios we may need to collect more sales data before we feel confident in calculating accurate fit guidance. But in most cases you can expect to see recommendations within 24 hours after the initial onboarding.
How can I change or cancel my subscription plan?
We always recommend contacting support@truefit.com first if you would like to change or cancel your subscription plan. To change or upgrade your subscription, please try navigating to Settings > Apps & Sales Channels > click the ellipsis in the upper right-hand corner > View details and check to see if you can manage the plan from there. Another way to update this is through Admin > Settings > Billing > Subscriptions.
To cancel your subscription entirely, you will need to uninstall the App.
Billing
How does the 14-day free period work?
The 14-day free period begins immediately after the initial install. True Fit offers this period to give merchants ample time to set up and explore the True Fit platform for Shopify. After the free period, usage-based billing applies, and the first invoice will be calculated based on your store’s order volume and the aligning tier. Future invoices will consider order volume and could vary depending on order volume.
Will my plan change automatically?
Yes. Your plan will reflect and change accordingly based on your monthly order volume. If your order volume remains within the selected tier, your plan will not change from that tier. This flexibility gives you the freedom to scale with your pace of business growth. If order volume should drop to a different tier, the merchant is responsible for tier adjustments.
Your plan price will vary based on orders per month: • Up to 1,000 orders: $99/month • Up to 2,500 orders: $249/month • Up to 5,000 orders: $499/month • Up to 7,500 orders: $749/month • Up to 10,000 orders: $999/month
How will I be billed?
True Fit provides fit recommendations to 100% of PDP shoppers. Thus, True Fit bills based on order volume. Once a merchant selects a pricing tier, they will be billed at that tier rate unless the order volume exceeds that tier. If the order volume exceeds the tier, the tier will be adjusted accordingly and could be adjusted mid-billing cycle.
How is the True Fit ‘New Revenue per Month’ metric calculated?
Shoppers who use True Fit as part of their purchase evaluation are proven to increase conversion and AOV and reduce fit-related returns. New Revenue per Month is calculated by applying a conversion rate lift and an AOV lift to the number of shoppers using True Fit.
The True Fit Performance Analytics dashboards automatically calculate: • True Fit conversion rate: conversion rate of shoppers that get a personalized fit recommendation. • Non-True Fit conversion rate: conversion rate of shoppers that choose not to get a personalized fit recommendation. • Average Order Value (AOV) of True Fit shoppers • Average Order Value (AOV) of Non-True Fit shoppers • True Fit Sessions: A period of activity for a unique user who received a personalized True Fit recommendation.
1. Calculate Incremental Revenue per Visitor (IRPV): Incremental Revenue per Visitor = (AOV of True Fit shopper x True Fit Conversion Rate) - (AOV of Non-True Fit shopper x Non-True Fit Conversion Rate)
2. Estimate the Total Incremental Revenue Lift: Total Incremental Revenue Lift = IRPV × Total True Fit Sessions
